The Wellesley Middle School’s mini-marathon takes place next Monday, May 2 beginning at Sprague Field.
Wellesley Middle students will sprint through the streets, taking part in the school’s 11th annual mini marathon, organized by the fitness and health staff. More than 1,000 students are expected to participate in the event that celebrates fitness and school spirit.
The event begins at 10 a.m. with staggered starts for the sixth, seventh and eighth grades. All runners will start and end on the Sprague field and follow a route monitored by the fitness staff, teachers and parent volunteers.
The mini-marathon starts at Sprague Field, follows the hill up towards Wellesley Middle, through the parking lot and down Calvin Road.
The course makes a right on Kingsbury Street, a right on Linden Street, a right on Hill Top Road, and a left on Highland Road.
At the bottom of Highland Road, the course turns right to the path by tennis courts, a left onto Sprague Field, and follows cones around field perimeter. The mini marathon finishes past the turf on Sprague Field.
