Walpole resident Julia Novick, age 8, made a major contribution to Bird Park’s “Kindness Rocks” garden this week. Looking for an opportunity to help the park and others, Julia saw the “Kindness Rocks” at the park and decided that would be a good way to give back and put her artistic talents to good use.
The “Kindness Rocks Project” is dedicated to spreading inspiration and motivation for unsuspecting recipients through inspirational rocks that have been decorated with drawings and motivational messages. Bird Park has its own “Kindness Rocks” garden where folks are welcome to take or contribute a rock that’s meaningful to them or another.
Julia collected 60 rocks at Bird Park and lovingly prepared them for the garden, helping to grow the garden significantly. Many other children and adults have contributed beautiful rocks to the garden on their own or through the “Kindness Rocks” program held at the park last month, but Julia’s contribution was outstanding, and she plans to grow the garden even more. During a recent trip to the beach, she collected 100 smooth rocks, which she will also prepare and add to the garden for others to enjoy.
The public is welcomed to help grow the garden. Bird Park will be hosting another “Kindness Rocks” program on August 20 at 4:30 p.m., after their Birds of Prey show at 3:00 p.m. Visit www.thetrustees.org/birdpark for more information.
