Walpole Seed Library to begin its second year

[ccfic caption-text format="plaintext"]
The Walpole Seed Library is entering its second year and is about to be stocked with new seeds for exchange.

This will be the second year of the Walpole Seed Library, a collaboration of the Friends of Adams Farm and the Walpole Public Library. Seeds are stored at the Walpole Library and are free to all.

Saving seeds is the next step of home gardening, and the Walpole Seed Library makes it easy to become a source of fresh food.

When gardeners grow, save, and share their own seeds, they increase the genetic diversity of their own seed stock. It also helps to develop seed stock that is more resilient and better adapted to the particular local climate and soil of the area, and helps others in the community.

Growing wholesome food with organic and heirloom seeds, and avoiding GMO’s (genetically modified organisms), is a healthy way to eat. The perfect way to improve a diet.

The Walpole Seed Library will be stocked in March with over 30 different types of seeds. The library accepts non-GMO, organic and heirloom seeds to round out the collection of the seeds it has to offer.

Seeds can be placed in the specially marked Walpole Seed Library box at the library or mailed to the library at 143 School Street, Walpole, MA 02081. An announcement will be made when the seed library is stocked and ready for withdrawals.

For questions or more information about the seed library, send an email to Packy5@comcast.net.
