The town of Walpole came together last Saturday to celebrate everything Walpole at the annual Walpole Day celebration.

The day kicked off with the traditional Walpole Day Parade through downtown Walpole. Hundreds of people lined the sidewalks from Walpole High School to the center of town to catch a glimpse of the parade as it marched through Walpole.

Featuring over 30 floats and hundreds of participants, the Walpole Day Parade proved to be an exciting affair. From singing to dancing to performances of plays, there were many different floats participating in the parade this year.

As the parade passed, candy was tossed into the streets for young Walpole residents to gather and collect.

After the parade was over, hundreds of people packed into Stone Field and the parking lots behind Town Hall where the Walpole Day festivities continued. In the parking lot, dozens of local businesses, non-profits and civic organizations had tables set up, many of which featured fun activities for people to enjoy.

New this year, Walpole Rec set up a large Kids Zone on Stone Field filled with a variety of large inflatables. From sports games to bouncy houses, many kids enjoyed the inflatable addition this year.

As Walpole Day came to a close, the Walpole Swim and Dive Team hosted its annual Wacky Quacky Duck Race. The annual Walpole Day tradition involves a race of plastic ducks down Memorial Pond.

This year’s winner was Denise Leonard with duck 963, who took home the $1,000 grand prize.
