On Saturday, November 17, United Church in Walpole will be holding its 37th annual Holly Berry Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This festive event offers Walpole and area residents a creative blend of holiday spirit, crafts, food and fun.
The Fair is family-oriented with several activities specifically geared toward children. In the Make and Take Room, children of all ages work on simple holiday themed craft projects that they take home as a gift or decoration for the holidays. The Children’s Shopping Room offers younger children a guided shopping trip to buy $1 items as Christmas gifts for family, friends, teachers, or coaches. Items are gift wrapped for the kids, so they are ready to be given during the holiday season. New this year will be face-painting - always a popular activity for children.
The ever-popular giant silent auction has over 450 items, including gift certificates from local restaurants and businesses, jewelry, holiday decor and household items, sports and fitness items, passes to museums and attractions, children’s toys and games, gift baskets, and much more.
The Fair will also feature the Bake Shoppe, with homemade breads, pies, cookies, and cakes; the Holiday Emporium with seasonal decorations and ornaments, including the famous birds with the tufted titmouse as bird of the year; Christmas Past with vintage and gently loved ornaments, décor, wreaths, garlands and more; and Handmades with baby items, scarves, sweaters, and other items handcrafted by members and friends of the church.
A popular feature every year is the very affordable hot lunch served during the Fair. The varied menu has something for everyone: corn chowder, pulled pork sandwiches, beef chili, hot dogs, pizza, Caesar salad, apple pie, and hot and cold beverages.
All profits from the fair support an array of church programs and outreach needs in the community and beyond.
United Church in Walpole is located at 30 Common Street, next to the Post Office. There is plenty of parking in the church parking lots, with overflow parking available in the neighboring lots.
