After a surprising 1-0 loss in the District 11 Finals of the Williamsport Tournament dashed their hopes of competing for a Massachusetts State Championship, the Walpole American 12A Little League team proceeded to lose only one game the rest of the summer (17-1 record) and finished the season with an overall record of 28-3 (all three loses by one run). To further explain their dominance, 12 of their wins were by shutout; in seven other wins, they only gave up one run.
In addition to the Williamsport Tournament, the Americans participated in two other tournaments (The Milton Invitational and Sandwich Summer Blast). They won the championship in both tournaments with a combined record of 11-1. They also played a Suburban League schedule where they finished in first place with a record of 7-1 and then won four straight playoff games to take the league crown.
In both the Sandwich tournament and Suburban League playoffs (championship game), the Americans' toughest games came against their friends from Walpole National. Both games went to extra innings, with the Americans eking out wins.
The team had an amazing and dominating summer that these boys, coaches and families will never forget.
