Cub Scouts Pack 44 stopped by the Walpole Council on Aging (COA) to partake in some Valentine’s cupcake decorating. Seniors packed the room, some sporting their best Valentine’s attire, and eager to indulge in some delicious cupcakes.

Pack 44 provided all decorating materials that seniors would need, including chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry icing, pink and white M&Ms, Hershey Kisses, heart-shaped hard candies, heart-shaped lollipops, and more!

Cub Scouts walked around to each table, assisting any senior who needed a helping hand. Some helped with frosting the cupcakes, while others helped put the finishing touches for the decorations. Once the seniors had completed their beautifully decorated cupcakes, they were welcome to dive in and enjoy them. All seniors in attendance could not speak highly enough about how good the cupcakes tasted.

These COA members certainly did not skimp out on their decoration styles, in which some of their cupcakes were fully covered in mouth-watering candy. As everyone was working on their decorating, Cub Scout members could be seen passing out water and other refreshments, as well as grabbing anything the seniors additionally needed.

Pack 44 Den Leader Brenda was also in attendance of this event, snapping pictures and helping run around with the Cub Scouts. “We have come here several times before,” Brenda stated, “and we just love it. Last time we were here was for Cocoa and Cookies that we did back in January. This is our Valentine’s Day event that we were really excited to do. We are also hoping to do a Cub Scout Camp Out event sometime this year. I really just think that it is super important for the Scouts to get involved this way and work with these amazing seniors. We really love to do intergenerational events like these and it’s just a great opportunity for the kids. We want to teach them to be kind to their elders and this is a great way to do that. It also brings a lot of joy to the kids and the seniors which we love to see!”
