On Saturday, December 27, 2025 at approximately 1:20pm the Town of Walpole's Emergency Communications Center began receiving multiple emergency calls for a serious motor vehicle / pedestrian crash in the area of 1400 Washington Street.
Upon arrival, police and fire emergency personnel located an 82-year-old male party down in the roadway suffering from serious, life threatening injuries. The Walpole Fire Department was on scene almost immediately and began life sustaining measures. The male party was subsequently transported to a local hospital by the WFD. The victim tragically died due to this incident.
A preliminary investigation by officers at the scene indicate that the motor vehicle was traveling north on Washington Street as the male party was crossing the roadway on foot.
The male was then struck in the northbound travel lane. The operator of the motor vehicle remained on scene, summoned emergency services, and is cooperating with the investigation. The crash remains under investigation.
