Each year, the Norwood Evening Garden Club awards a scholarship to a graduating senior of the Norfolk County Agricultural High School who has good scholastic achievement, outstanding citizenship, and who is pursuing a degree in horticulture, agriculture, floriculture, conservation, environmental science or horticulture in its widest aspect. This year, the scholarship was awarded to Colleen Sullivan of Braintree.

Ms. Sullivan will attend the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne to study Marine Safety and Environmental Protection. A member of the National Honor Society, Ms. Sullivan was also the Treasurer of her junior and senior class, was on the varsity soccer and basketball teams for several years, serving as captain of both during her senior year, and was a member of the school’s Peer Leadership program.

In addition to her school activities, Ms. Sullivan played for a traveling soccer team and worked part-time at both a floral shop and garden center. She is also a recipient of the MCAS John and Abigail Adams Scholarship.

President Costa said, “Ms. Sullivan is extremely well-rounded. Not only does she have an impressive scholastic record, she also participated in varsity sports and showed outstanding leadership both on and off the field. She exemplifies the ideals and leadership qualities that the garden club holds in high esteem. It is my pleasure to be able to award our scholarship to this deserving young woman.”
