The Walpole Footlighters are set to open their 2017-18 season with “The Savannah Sipping Society.” In this delightful, laugh-a-minute comedy, four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by fate —and an impromptu happy hour — and decide it’s high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years. The show will be directed by Wendy Stuart.
Cindy Bell plays Randa, a perfectionist and workaholic who is struggling to cope with a surprise career derailment; Kay Blaha will star as Dot, still reeling from her husband’s recent demise and the loss of their plans for an idyllic retirement, who faces the unsettling prospect of starting a new life from scratch; Barbara Schapiro plays Jinx, who offers her services as a much-needed life coach for these women; and Cynthia Wegel will take the role of Marlafaye, a good ol’ Texas gal who has blasted into Savannah in the wake of losing her tom-cattin’ husband to a twenty-three-year-old dental hygienist.
Shows will be performed on October 20, 21, 27, 28, and November 3 and 4 at 8:00 p.m. There will also be 2 p.m. matinees on October 29 and November 5.
Tickets are $20 for reserved seats. Group rates are also available for parties of ten or more. For further information, visit http://www.footlighters.com/tickets.html or call (508-668-8446).
