Elm Street School holds Field Day

Another successful Field Day was held at Elm Street School in Walpole, MA. In addition to the inflatable obstacle course, Survivor Dad Trail, and DJ/cookout, which are legacies to this special event, members of the community were invited to participate in the school’s annual school Field Day.

Peter Armstrong from the Walpole FD arrived in a fire truck, allowing Elm students to get a tour of the truck, see the fire gear and equipment, and ask questions. This was a great way to involve the Fire Department, as well as familiarize the students with helpful members of the community.

One of the special activities that students participated in was the “Radar Fast Pitch.” Facilitated by Officer Parlon from Walpole PD, kids were given a baseball to throw at a target, while Officer Parlon used the radar gun to assess their pitching speed. A male and female student from each class was then given a positive ticket for having the fastest pitch. In addition, students were allowed to tour a police cruiser and ask Officer Parlon questions.

Parent volunteers shared in this special day with the students and teachers.

All in all, it was a fun and exciting day filled with activities that involved team building, community involvement and most importantly exercise.

Attendees thanked Elm Street School's physical education teacher, Maureen Carty, for her dedication to this school event every year.
