Recently the Aaron Guild Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honored four High School seniors from the area who were chosen as Good Citizens by their classmates and teachers.
The Good Citizen Award night took place at the George H. Morse Historic House on Washington Street in Norwood. Each honoree received a pin and a flag that flew over the United States Capitol on Patriot’s Day. Each honoree also received a certificate that reads that the flag was flown to honor Aaron Guild Chapter’s Good Citizen.
DAR Chapter Chair Sunny O’Malley of Westwood made the presentations. The students were chosen for their leadership, patriotism, and service to the community. At graduation in June, each honoree will receive a framed certificate and a check from the Aaron Guild Chapter.
The four deserving students are: Brandon Scott from Blue Hills Regional Technical School (who was unable to attend the ceremony), Victoria Cutler from Norfolk County Agricultural School, Olivia Haglund from Norwood High School, and John Henry Breen from Walpole High School. Each student is involved in activities at their school as well as in their community.
For the holidays, the Aaron Guild Chapter makes up ditty bags with toiletries and small gifts for West Roxbury Veterans Hospital patients. The gift bags for both men and women patients are delivered personally by the members at New Year.
The Aaron Guild Chapter is made up of members from the area towns of Norwood, Westwood, Walpole, Canton, Medfield, and Millis, as well as other communities, and welcomes new members. Call Regent Terry Whetstone at (781-329-8463) for more information.
