Christmas Carol comes to Walpole Library

“A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens will be read by Gary Hylander at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening, December 12, in the Community Room of the Walpole Public Library. Hylander, a well-known local lecturer on American history, gives a dramatic reading of the beloved original 1846 classic yuletide fantasy. All are welcome, and there is no charge to attend, thanks to the Friends of the Walpole Public Library. More details can be found at www.walpolelibrary friends.org.

Whenever Dr. Gary L. Hylander gives his fascinating talks on American history, audiences are captivated not only by his knowledge of the facts, but also by his flair for the dramatic in his style of presentation. This time, drama comes to the forefront as he reads Charles Dickens’ ever-endearing story, “A Christmas Carol.” Ebeneezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, Jacob Marley, Fezziwig, the Christmas Ghosts, and all the other unforgettable characters of Dickens’ timeless classic will come alive as Hylander plays out this inimitable fable of human feelings lost and regained, and the illumination of the true spirit of this season.
