The Westwood High School varsity boys tennis team improved to 8-3 in the TVL on with a 4-1 victory against Medfield on a blistering hot afternoon last Thursday as part of the team’s senior day. Out of the 10 total sets played on Thursday, Westwood won eight, and all four match victories came in consecutive sets.
Senior captains Aaron Janfaza and Afraz Padamsee helped orchestrate a dominant singles performance with Janfaza winning his match 6-2, 7-5. All the while, Padamsee got a little bit of revenge after losing to Medfield’s Jake Twer in three sets when the two met for first time back in April, winning on Thursday by a final of 6-2, 7-5.Westwood was just as equally dominant in doubles as they were in singles, as the duo of senior captain Billy Wallace and senior Brian Foley put together a strong showing in their 6-0, 6-4 victory in consecutive sets. Last but certainly not least, seniors Caleb Axworthy and Jack Papetti won their doubles match 6-3, 6-2.
The Westwood boys will look to end the regular season strongly when they host Hopkinton on May 25.
