Last week boys’ and girls’ basketball and hockey all entered the playoffs. The girls’ hockey team earned the first seed with a regular season record of 19–1. They first beat 32nd-seeded Stoneham 2–0 at home on February 25th and then 17th-seeded Martha’s Vineyard Regional on March 1st. Their next game will be facing the Medfield Warriors, who beat the Wolverines in an upset last year in the semifinals. In the regular season this year, Westwood has beaten Medfield in both of their matchups, 4–1 and 5–1. The date of their matchup has not been determined at the time of writing this article.

The boys’ hockey team is seeded 6th with a record of 17–2–1. They played 27th-seeded Mansfield at home on the 26th, winning 6–1. In the next round, they beat 11th-seeded Billerica Memorial 3–1. They will have faced 3rd-seeded Falmouth (15–5–2) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. The winner of that game will go up against either 2nd-seeded Tewksbury Memorial (18–1–1) or 7th-seeded Milton (11–9–1) in the semifinals.

The girls’ basketball team was seeded 29th with an 8–12 regular season record. They played their first postseason game at home on February 25th, defeating 36th-seeded Shepherd Hill Regional High School (12–8) 56–40. However, they were knocked out of the next round by Foxborough (19–1) on the 27th.

Boys’ basketball earned the 23rd seed with a 15–6 record. They were knocked out of the first round by 10th-seeded Archbishop Williams (13–7) but only lost by 8 points, which is impressive considering the ranking deficit.
A regularly-updated bracket that also functions as schedules for all playoff games can be found on the MIAA website under “Tournament Central.”
