Dave DiCicco was a humble man, a person who put everyone in front of him as he led the light to shine on them. He was a person you could always go to and have a chat about the world and how we could fix it, he loved to coach his kids and the kids of Needham, helping them grow into better athletes and even better people.

It was through his charisma and selfless acts of kindness that Dave was part of the heart of the Needham community. Welcoming everyone with open arms and always giving a lending hand when need be. He was a husband, father, coach, and best friend.

On Thursday, June 29th, friends and family from the town of Needham gathered together to celebrate the life of Dave and to honor him with a bench dedicated just to him.

The bench is located on Greene Field, a wonderful spot right by the baseball field, decorated with beautiful red, white, and blue flowers on either end or a bright red bow next to a plaque that says “It is what it is,” a common phrase Dave would use. Friends and family went up and spoke in remembrance of Dave sharing the beautiful memories and how he shaped them and the community. Dave passed away days after the pandemic shut down the world in 2020; having this bench dedication to Dave is a memorial everyone can attend to.

DiCicco’s daughter, Nicole DiCicco, reflected on the challenges their family faced in 2020 and is grateful to see everyone still supporting and remembering her father today.

“His impact is one that nobody except for those closest to him knows about. That’s why it is so special to have this bench because he actively tried to stay behind the scenes.

He is the most deserving; he would’ve given us a hard time dedicating this bench to him while he was still here. He would give us a list of ten other people who he felt were more qualified, and that was just his personality. He loved what he did,” said DiCicco.
