The Needham boys (#5 seed) traveled to Lawrence on Saturday night to take on the #4 seed, Central Catholic, in MIAA state tournament round of eight. Not only did the players make the trip, but the students and fans did too. Central Catholic's gym looked and sounded like Needham North. Central got out to an early lead, and held it for the first half.
But the Needham boys settled in and started playing their game; relentless defense and a fast paced offense. Conference players of the year Brian Cloonan and Henry Bickford set the tone for the Rockets on both ends of the floor. They finished with 15 and 14 points respectively. Jackson Shaw also helped to get the scoring going in the game while playing lock down defense on Central's best player. Cam Keyes, Chris Camozzi and Noah Goldstien kept the game in reach as Needham mounted their comeback, 43 - 41.
All year long this team has exemplified their “we over me” philosophy and this was another fantastic team win.
