More than 50 Medfield families traveled to Waterville Valley, N.H. to participate in the annual Deep Freeze hockey tournament, which took place over the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday weekend.

Medfield sent a total of five teams of boys and girls ranging in age from 6-13.

The Medfield teams all fared well against strong competition from teams throughout New England. Medfield’s top Squirt team reached the tournament finals before being beaten by a tough Top Gun elite team.

Medfield’s top Pee Wee team continued its incredible run by rolling through the tournament, blowing out Woonsocket (R.I.) to take the championship trophy. The team led by coach Gerard Walsh remains undefeated on the year with a season record of 31-0-1.

The highlight of the weekend was the Saturday night bash for all families, as Medfield rented out the Waterville Valley ski lodge for a tournament celebration.

More than 200 Medfield residents attended the event, which featured food, drink and nonstop fun for the kids who spent the night sledding down the steep hill in front on the lodge.

Medfield Youth Hockey’s annual fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Medfield American Legion, 110 Peter Kristof Way.

All are encouraged to come to the event and support Medfield Hockey’s continued growth and success.
