With the start of youth baseball season fast approaching, the Medfield Youth Baseball and Softball teams have been busy preparing for the opening day festivities.

On Tuesday, April 19, Medfield's Varsity Baseball Team hosted a skills clinic for Medfield Youth Baseball players.

The young baseball players learned from the high school baseball team, picking up many pointers and developing new skills to help the youth baseball teams succeed this season.

The Opening Day for Medfield Youth Baseball/Softball will be held on Sunday, May 1.

This year, the pre-parade photo shoot will no longer take place, and the parade will start later than usual.

All baseball and softball teams should report to the new Dale Street School parking lot no later than 2:45 p.m. The parade will begin at 3 p.m. from the Dale Street School parking lot and end at the Metacomet Park Baseball Field.

Immediately following the parade, all teams will march onto Metacomet Field for the Opening Day ceremonies, including the dedication of the new concession stand and restrooms.

A Major League game will start at 4:15pm, followed by a AAA League game immediately following.

Come support Medfield Youth Baseball/Softball and cheer for the players! In the event of inclement weather, please check the web site at www.medfieldybs.org for rain date information.

The youth baseball players have another special event to be excited about. Monday, May 2 is Medfield Youth Game Day, when all Medfield Youth Baseball participants are encouraged to wear their MYBL jerseys at the varsity game against Bellingham at Schilling field beginning at 3:45 p.m.

Varsity families will be selling concessions and holding raffles for fabulous prizes.
