Medfield loads up postseason awards

With the 2021 spring athletic season just having finally come to an end in early July, its time to recognize the seemingly endless number of Medfield High School athletes who were recently honored with postseason awards.

In boys lacrosse, junior UMass commit TJ Casey was named TVL Large MVP for his dominance at the face-off X all season long for the Warriors. Casey also took home All-Scholastic honors from both the Boston Herald and Boston Globe. Joining Casey as a Herald All-Scholastic recipient were junior Loyola-committed attack-man Luke Murphy and senior LSM James Wilder. Medfield boys lacrosse had a total of eight players named TVL All-Stars; Casey, Murphy, Wilder, Robert Spaeth, Sam Hedges, Quin Fedor, Sam Hedges, Jack Sullivan and Cole Cloney. Earning TVL Honorable Mention were Caleb Lawson, Connor Nee, Chris Bethoney and Jared Hirschfeld. Head coach John Isaf was named TVL Coach of the Year.

In girls lacrosse, Erin Sullivan and Kathryn Blake both earned TVL All-Star honors and were both named Herald All-Scholastic. Kelly Blake was named a TVL All-Star, while Isabella Ianonne, Alex Blake, Grenne Campbell, Annie McCarthy and Lauren Schofield were all named TVL Honorable Mention.

In girls tennis, Ashley Zilora was named TVL Large MVP, a TVL All-Star and Herald All-Scholastic. Julia Wilson and Molly Wagenseller were each named TVL All-Stars while Avery Ayer, Caroline Callahan, Allison Lane and Grace Keene were named TVL Honorable Mention.

Ben Grenon and Nathan DePaola were both named TVL All-Stars in boys tennis.

In boys volleyball, Colby Guarnagia was named both a TVL and Massachusetts High School Volleyball All-Star. Tyler Shu and Jake Koterba were each named TVL All-Stars. Evan Adolph was named a Massachusetts High School Volleyball All-Star.

Alex Lushby, Olivia Tomlin, Grace McGowan, Audrey Callahan and Emily Morgan were all named TVL Large All-Stars in girls track. Becca Gangemi and Erin Infantino were named TVL Large Honorable Mention.

James Layden, Colin Benson, Willston Destin, Charlie Katsikaris and Ben Previte were named TVL Large All-Stars in boys track. Aiden Chan was named TVL Large Honorable Mention.

For the Eastern Mass champion baseball team, staff ace and lead-off hitter Sam Palmer was named TVL Large MVP, a TVL Large All-Star as well as Herald All-Scholastic. Pepperdine-committed shortstop Jack Goodman was named TVL Large Defensive Player of the Year and a TVL Large All-Star. Skidemore-bound first baseman Sam Kornet was named a TVL Large All-Star and Herald All-Scholastic. Pitchers Matt Donohue and Thomas Shurtleff with both named TVL Large All-Stars. Head coach Dave Worthley was named TVL Large Coach of the Year.

In girls softball, Kaelyn Larkin was named TVL Large MVP and a TVL Large All-Star along with being named Herald All-Scholastic. Bitsy Crowley was named a TVL Large All-Star while Naomi Lung, Katie O'Connor, Addie Gardiner, Jessica Colletti and Brooke Lyons were named TVL Large Honorable Mention.
