The winless Medfield Marlins made their way to Westwood on Tuesday, August 2, with a victory on their minds.
They got it.
The win marks Medfield's first of the year in the South Suburban Swim League, and it could not have come at a better time. With the 'A' Regional Meet swiftly approaching, the Marlins will be eager to parlay their good form into some medals for Medfield.
The Marlins' record (1-8) does not seem to adequately reflect its level of talent. In this year's Mile Swim, for example, the Marlins, as a team, placed seventh and eight (both out of 12) in the boys and girls divisions, respectively. It is suggestive of a team that has yet to show its true colors. The recent victory, however, could prove the spark that leads to Medfield's best swimming of the year.
The 'A' Regional Meet, the final event of year in the South Suburban Swim Meet will take place on August 13. At the time of printing, Medfield is still awaiting dual meets against ninth place Needham (2-6) on the road and sixth place Canton (4-5) at home.
