This year’s Dover Sherborn Youth Basketball season, with over 250 girls and boys participating, was among the most successful in the history of the program.

An unprecedented nine DS teams won their division, including 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys, plus 6th and 7th grade girls. Four teams made it to the final four of their playoff groups – 6th grade boys, 5th grade boys, 6th grade girls and 5th grade girls.

Dover Sheborn boasted three Metrowest group champions on the season:

Coaches Pete Sylvester, Chris Lynch and the 6th grade boys won the Group 2 championship. After going 9-1 in Division 3, the team was pushed up to Group 2, where they blitzed five Division 2 teams on their way to the Group 2 title.

Coaches Andy Spellman and Susan Petrovic and the 5th grade boys went 12-0 in Division 5 before winning five more playoff games on their way to the Group 4 championship and a 17-0 overall record.

Coaches Gavin Mish, Maria Handrinos, Scott Ducich, Ben Hughes, Kristen Scalabrine and the 5th grade girls (the “ATHENAS”) won the Group 5A championship.
