On Friday morning, the MIAA gathered at its offices in Franklin to finalize the state tournament brackets for boys’ and girls’ basketball. A number of teams from the Hometown Weekly coverage area will begin a quest for silverware this week.

The Westwood girls were the top seed in Div. 2 South after a Tri-Valley League championship and 20-2 regular season. The only losses for the Wolverines this year were to Bishop Feehan, the No. 2 seed in Div. 1 South and the No. 2 team in the state. Westwood will wait for the winner of Madison Park and defending state champion Duxbury.

Other teams that received high seeds in the tournament are the Needham boys (No. 3 in Div. 1 South) and the Medfield boys (No. 2 in Div. 2 Central). The Medfield girls took the third seed in Div. 2 Central, while the Wellesley girls are No. 5 in Div. 1 South and Dover-Sherborn boys were No. 4 in Div. 3 Central.
