The Dover-Sherborn fifth grade basketball team recently concluded their season by finishing 14-2. They reached the semifinals of the MetroWest Tournament, often playing against teams one and two divisions higher than them.
The team, made up of 10 players, used teamwork and smart play to give opponents fits on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Always playing as hard as they could, they tried to outwork their opponents by hustling up and down the floor on every possession.
It was that effort that made them so tough to play against and enabled them to have such a successful season.
While many of the players on the team will move on to a spring sport this coming season, they will surely be honing their basketball skills throughout the spring, summer and fall with their eyes set on a championship next season as sixth graders.
