John ‘Johnny’ Jackson, Jr.

John “Johnny” Carlton Jackson Jr., age 93, has passed away at his home in Ashland, MA. He was born in Sherborn, Massachusetts as the third child of John Carlton and Isabelle “Belle” Wing Jackson who owned Jackson Store and gas station and managed the US Post Office, a central gathering place in Sherborn for many years. As a youngster Johnny had interests in raising animals, hunting and helping his parents in their store. Later in his life John raised and raced sled dogs.

John was in the Army after WWll and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Sherborn Police Department, in various positions, from 1959 to 1962 and he graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy in 1961. John was the nephew of the late and well-loved Sherborn Chief of Police, Harold “Deac” L. Jackson, who had a 36 year tenure with the Sherborn Police Department, 1925 - 1961. 

During his retirement years John enjoying traveling between Florida and Ashland, Massachusetts. He loved his hometown and his family history was entwined with the town’s history. He will be remembered by numerous members of his hometown community.

 John is survived by his nieces, Marilyn Greene and Jacqueline Lusk of Oregon, nephew, Harold Dewar of Massachusetts, cousin, Margaret Richardson of Maine and scores of grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John Carlton and Isabelle H. Wing Jackson and his sisters Marjorie Jackson Bowder and Eleanor Jackson Dewar Holcomb. 

John’s cremains will be interred at Pine Hill Cemetery in his family plot near his parents.
