It is with great sadness that the Needham Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2498 announces the death of Past Post Commander Daniel Keane. He was a victim of the coronavirus.
Dan had been living in the Chelsea Soldiers Home, where he suffered from a variety of ailments. Prior to that, he resided in the Veterans Healthcare facility in Brockton MA. He served his country in both the US Army, and the Marine Corps as a young man and was elected Post Commander of Post 2498 two years in a row.
Dan and his wonder dog Philo were familiar to most Needhamites, as he and his guide dog would walk from his home on Linden Street to Needham Center to shop or eat dinner at the Center Cafe, his favorite.
He was buried in Woburn this past week, and his ashes were joined by the ashes of his beloved Philo, who passed away two years ago. Rest in Peace, Commander Keane.
