The active artists of Needham Open Studios are exhibiting for the first time at the Community Gallery at Christ Church, Needham. The public is invited to the Holiday Sale/Opening Art Reception on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 11 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy the art exhibit and meet the artists over refreshments.

Holiday gifts of original art and crafts will be available for the day of the Opening Reception. The art exhibit is on display through January 5, 2026 and all artworks are available for purchase. A portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to the Needham Community Council. The Needham Open Studios artists held a Pop-Up art event earlier in the month. The Holiday Sale is an opportunity for those who missed it or want more.

A variety of art and craft mediums will be on display. The exhibiting artists are David Berman (photography) Daniel Callahan (oil painting), Berline Chao (origami fabric boxes), Donna DeMaria (fine jewelry), Gail Fischer (photography), Ilona Fried (mixed media), Deepa Krishnan (acrylic painting), Corinne Rhode (photography), Mark Richards (oil painting), Judith Silverstein (oil and acrylic painting), and Naomi Wilsey (watercolors).

“Participating in Needham Open Studios events is inspiring to me as an artist,” said Berline Chao, fabric origami artist and Needham Open Studios Board Member. “Visitors are curious about how art is made and ask questions like ‘how are the boxes made?’ ‘is this a full-time job?’ ‘how did you learn how to make these boxes?’ This new exhibit is an opportunity to show my artwork for an extended time in a local art gallery.”

The Community Gallery, located in Christ Church, Needham, is at 1132 Highland Avenue, Needham, across from the Needham Free Library. The exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. and on display until January 2026. Handicap accessible parking/entrance is available at the rear of the church.

In lieu of commission on sales, the Needham Community Council will receive a donation of a portion of the sales from the art exhibit and Holiday Sale. The Needham Community Council is a private non-profit organization that supports people in Needham who have under-met health, educational or social needs and promotes volunteerism, community and a sense of shared responsibility. “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

Needham Open Studios, in its 26th year, holds an event each spring over the first weekend in May. The Community Gallery exhibit is a sampling of the 50-plus artists of the larger annual event. This non-profit art group seeks to bring art experiences to our communities. Exhibits are held in public spaces, art processes are shown in live demonstrations and hands-on art projects are offered to children and adults.
