This September, the Needham Free Public Library (NFPL) featured the work of the youngest artist that has ever been displayed in their adult space. Maxim Tulebaev is an eleven year old aspiring artist from Needham. His parents noted that, “Maxim's passion for art began at an early age, and he has dedicated countless hours to learning how to draw.” The NFPL has had his work displayed since September 1st and it can be seen through the end of this month.
Tulebaev works in an acrylic medium, painting a variety of landscape oriented scenes, weaving in a variety of colors that truly make his works unique and eye-catching.
Hometown Weekly Editor, Julia Beauregard, was lucky enough to interview the talented artist and receive his thoughts on his artistic creation, aspirations as he gets older, and how he feels about being the youngest artist to be featured at the library.
What inspires you to paint?
I like painting things I see around me and sometimes stuff from my favorite games like Minecraft.
Why did you choose acrylic painting as your medium?
My art teacher showed me acrylics. They are easy to use. They dry fast and the colors are really bright.
How long have you been painting for?
I always like drawing, but I started painting with acrylics two years ago.
Do you aspire to be an artist as your career or is it going to just stay your passion?
Right now I just like painting. When I grow up I want to be a YouTuber or a scientist, but I will always like painting.
How does it feel to be the youngest person to be featured at the Needham Public Library?
It feels good. I go to the library to get books and to read. Now people can see my paintings. It’s cool.
With so much talent at such a young age, it will be exciting to see how this Needham native continues to thrive as an artist. To view his work, be sure to visit the NFPL before the end of the month. Tulebaev’s work is surely not something that you want to miss.
