The Needham High robotics team T-10 (T minus 10) competed last weekend in the Super Regional East FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) competition at the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa.
The Needham team competed against 72 other groups of high schoolers from across the Eastern U.S. to earn 24 spots for the prestigious World Competition tournament. T-10 finished 33rd in its alliance, just missing out on a trip to St. Louis for the next round.
Hans Batra, the advisor for the Needham High robotics program, was also honored at the regional competition. Batra was an honorable mention for the Compass Award, which “recognizes an adult coach or mentor who provided outstanding guidance and support for an FTC Team throughout the year.”
In an email about T-10’s performance at the regional competition, Batra wrote, “Although they did not advance to the World Competition in St. Louis, they met teams from the Eastern U.S. and returned with the desire to do even better next year.”
