On Monday, April 17, Chris Blood will be running the Boston Marathon for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Chris will be running for Dana-Farber because last year his family lost a great man to cancer.
John Bergstrom, a veteran runner of the Boston Marathon, was the rock of his family and a guiding force in the lives of all who were close to him. John was a lover of photography, sailing, nature and a good book. Among these passions was also his love of running in Boston Marathons, competing in a total of ten consecutive marathons during the 1970s. That is why this year, Chris is honoring his memory by running for a great organization like Dana-Farber.
Chris Blood grew up in Needham, and graduated from Needham High School in 2002. He is a member of Norfolk Masonic Lodge on Highland Avenue and took the leadership role of Master of Norfolk Lodge from September 2009 to September 2010. Previously, he also participated in the Boston Marathon in 2012, raising money for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, an organization in which he served as Big Brother.
Organizations like Dana-Farber combat the disease through research and care for patients and their families. Any amount donated will go towards helping people who are currently fighting or will fight cancer in the future.
Chris Blood and his family are asking for donations in memory of John Bergstrom and millions of others who have battled with cancer. Every little bit counts and is greatly appreciated in working towards their goal of $10,000.
