Needham resident Patrick Sheehan has signed on to run in this spring’s Boston Marathon to support the Nashoba Learning Group, Inc. where his son Declan has been a student since he was 4 years old.
Declan has autism and in a note on his fundraising page, Patrick called the school a “godsend” for Declan and for the Sheehan family.
“In addition to teaching Declan the life skills and academics he needs in order to thrive, the staff loves him and cares for him as one of their own,” Patrick and his wife Liz wrote on their page. “We are truly blessed to have found NLG and are extremely grateful for all it has done for Declan.”
“With NLG’s help, there is no challenge that he cannot meet.”
The school needs support to continue running its special programming and Patrick has decided to challenge himself by running in the Boston Marathon on April 18 “to go the extra mile” for Nashoba Learning Group.
The Sheehans set a goal of $10,000 and are more than halfway there, but could still use support, particularly during April, which is National Autism Awareness Month.
