Needham Lights will continue, albeit altered

Holiday traditions will be different this year as the pandemic continues. This year's celebration of the Needham Blue Tree lighting and accompanying lights will take place this year, without the usual celebration.

As a result, residents of Needham are urged to bring some of the festivities to their own neighborhoods. To participate, residents and business owners will decorate their property with lights between Thanksgiving weekend and New Year's weekend.

Those who wish to go the extra mile can add a secret item to their display to make it even more fun for light observers. During the week of 11/30, hide a blue light. Hide a snowflake-shaped item during the first week of December. During the week of 12/14, hide a bell. During the week of 12/21, hide a scarf on the display. Finally, during the last week of December, hide a 2021 item. All of these will help add a touch of fun to each holiday light display.
