The Needham Knights of Columbus are rising to address one of the menaces which has emerged in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic: hunger. “The coronavirus pandemic rages around us and is creating devastating damage to individuals, families, the healthcare system, the stock market, the economy, businesses and more," said Grand Knight Bob Timmerman of the Needham Knights of Columbus. "Not since The Great Depression has hunger been a more threatening issue in our community and in our country.”
A new K of C initiative called “Leave No Neighbor Behind” aims at alleviating the issue of hunger in those communities hardest hit. With millions of friends and neighbors having lost their jobs (and likely more to come), food pantries are being overwhelmed by the need. The Needham Knights of Columbus Fr. Daniel J. Kennedy Council #1611 is rising to this heartbreaking challenge by collecting money from anyone willing to help to be used to buy groceries to stock local food pantries and hunger relief organizations. They are encouraging friends and neighbors to write a check in an amount they can afford to The Needham K of C (please write “Leave No Neighbor Behind” on it) and mail it to their hall at Needham K of C Council 1611, 1211 Highland Ave., Needham, MA 02492.
“Our intention is to do everything we can to help our local families until our world begins to heal, and things return to normal,” says Timmerman. “If we pull together and extend a helping hand, even in a small way, we will all get through this very anxious time.” To learn more about this effort, visit www.needhamkofc.org.
