Organized by Senior Class Advisor Mr. Michael Hirsh, Class Day is a day for acknowledging the accomplishments and achievements of NHS seniors, as well as the awarding of numerous scholarships and prizes. Class Day 2016 hosted around 200 seniors in the NHS gym.

After opening remarks by Master of Ceremonies Andrea Maheras, scholarships were presented with the assistance of Principal Dr. Joseph Barnes, and Assistant Principals Mr. Johnny Cole, Ms. Alison Coubrough-Argentieri, and Mr. Aaron Sicotte.

These scholarships recognized and rewarded the many feats the class had achieved during their four years at the high school, including success in the arts, student activist movements, academic performances, and more.

Student speakers Jessica Kent and Dianne Lee addressed the class, explaining the significance of the students’ times at NHS.

Lee explained, “Class Day is a day to celebrate all of our great accomplishments. So today, let us celebrate our success together and share in our accomplishments.”

Awards and prizes were given to recognize academic and athletic merit. These awards included the “Certificate of Academic Distinction,” the “Certificate for Distinguished Service,” and the “NHS Athletics Excellence Award,” among 26 others.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Barnes, who congratulated the talented students gathered together and expressed his anticipation for graduation day.
