On Friday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m., the Needham Fine and Performing Arts Department will present the Needham High and Middle School jazz ensembles for the annual Jazz Night concert.
Joining the students on stage will be saxophonist Tucker Antell. The Massachusetts native will be working with the students all week as a musician-in-residence and then will perform with the students on stage in the Needham High auditorium.
According to a press release from the schools, Antell has “received accolades for his skill, style and presentation in modern jazz genres.”
He began his studies at the University of Michigan before transferring and graduating from the New England Conservatory of Music. He has performed with numerous bands including Soul City, Beantown Swing Orchestra, the Laura Grill Band, the John Allmark Big Band, and the ALCBT Big Band.
The musician-in-residence program was partially sponsored by the Needham High PTC and the Middle School PTC.
Tickets for Jazz Night are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling the Fine and Performing Arts Department at 781-455-0800, ext. 2440.
