NAA to host painter Sam Vokey

On Tuesday, April 5, at 7:00 p.m., for this year’s joint virtual demonstration, the Needham Art Association and the Wellesley Society of Artists are pleased to welcome award-winning oil painter Sam Vokey. Any painting is only as strong as the underlying scaffold of the geometric design. Sam will explore key elements of design like directional lines, asymmetry, the rule of thirds, and creating dynamism in composition, with a focus on how to improve your compositional skills and use this knowledge to make your work stronger.

Sam Vokey is an oil painter who specializes in landscapes and still-lifes. His paintings demonstrate a strong consideration for creating balance between the overall composition and the light and dark values. He is an elected member of The Guild Of Boston Artists and has won the designation of Copley Master from the Copley Society of Boston. You can learn more about Sam and his work at www.samvokey.com.

This event will be hosted on Zoom and is free and open to the public, but registration is required for non-members to receive the meeting link: https://needhamartassociation.org/programs/

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Needham Council for Arts and Culture, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
