This fall, the Charles River YMCA is offering a free workout regimen designed for cancer survivors. The program is offered in conjunction with the Livestrong Foundation and is intended to boost the physical and mental well being of Needham residents who are battling or have battled cancer.
The motto for the class is “Partners in healing the whole person” and it incorporates the goals of building muscle mass and strength, increasing flexibility and endurance, and improving confidence and self-esteem.
Instructor and cancer survivor Liz Gregg is excited to be able to offer this course again beginning on Feb. 29.
She remarked, “This is my third year teaching the Livestrong program in Needham, and it is very dear to my heart. As a cancer survivor myself, I understand the difficult journey to reclaim your health and body, and I am thrilled to be able to assist so many others in their endeavors!”
Overcoming cancer takes a huge physical, emotional, and mental toll and the Livestrong program will help survivors regain “total health” in mind, body, and spirit.
The next Livestrong session begins on Monday, Feb. 29 and classes meet twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the YMCA’s Chestnut Street location, 9380 Chestnut St., or Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. at the Center at the Heights, 300 Hillside Ave.
This is a free program for both members and non-members. A YMCA membership is offered for participants for the duration of the program, which runs through Memorial Day.
