Human Rights Forum continues in December

The next forum in the Needham Human Rights Series, “Stopping the Rising Tide of Hate,” will be held on Saturday, December 2, from 4-6 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Needham, 1154 Great Plain Avenue.

The keynote speaker will be Lecia Brooks, who leads the Southern Poverty Law Center’s outreach efforts on key initiatives and social justice issues. She is well known around the country for her presentations promoting tolerance and diversity.

Brooks will be joined by a panel of representatives from the Boston area who will speak on their experiences and activism on social justice issues. Specific areas covered include: active hate groups in the United States and Massachusetts, methods used in spreading hate, reforms and economic policies to promote social justice, and how you can make a difference stopping the rising tide of hate.

Panelists include Adam Lawrence Dyer, First Parish in Cambridge, Unitarian Universalist, James Mackey, #StuckOnReplay, and Nicole Rodriguez, Mass Budget and Policy Center.

The Needham Human Rights Series is co-sponsored by Progressive Needham, the League of Women Voters of Needham, and the Needham Area Immigration Justice Task Force.
