Grace Snow, a Needham High School senior, has been selected as the recipient of the Needham Art Association's (NAA) $1000 Scholarship Award. Scholarship Chair Jessica Gallo and the scholarship committee worked closely with NHS fine arts teacher Katherine Bergeron to select seniors to be considered for this award.
Grace impressed the committee with her initiative to pursue art courses outside of school to expand her art skills. She also articulated her views about art and the beautiful works she creates clearly. For example, she clearly prefers using gouache because “it is fluid like watercolor, but opaque like acrylic and creates a velvety matte finish.” Her unique style of drawing, color choices and contrasts of lights and dark contributed to her selection.
This fall, Grace will attend Boston University CFA (School of Visual Arts). She hopes to pursue a career in graphic design or art education.
