Beginning in March, the Charles River YMCA, 863 Great Plain Ave. in Needham, will be offering “Girls on the Run,” a program dedicated to raising self-esteem and confidence in girls in grades 3-5.
The program will prepare the girls to run a 5K in June and no previous running experience is necessary. The focus of the program is equal parts exercise and fitness and social development.
According to a press release from the YMCA, “We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running.”
The program meets every Wednesday and Sunday from 3:45-5:15 p.m. For more information or to sign-up, contact Elizabeth Gregg at egregg@ymcaboston.com.
