The Needham Exchange Club has recognized Cooper McCann from St. Sebastian's as its Youth of the Month. He is a member of the Cum Laude Society for his outstanding academic achievements and won the Harvard Book Award for “excellence in scholarship and character”. McCann has played baseball, hockey and basketball, and volunteered with Cradles to Crayons and the Miracle League. His coaches and instructors go out of their way to praise his help and encouragement of his fellow students. The summer “Envision Camp” at Olin College got him excited about studying science and engineering, and he followed up with a course last summer at Biogen on biotechnology and neurological diseases. Cooper will study math and science next year at Harvard.
The Needham Exchange Club provides recognition to four very accomplished graduating high school seniors through its Youth of the Month and Youth of the Year programs. Additionally, its scholarship program provides recognition and financial assistance for graduating seniors. Of these, one will be chosen as the Club’s Youth of the Year, and go on to compete in the New England District Youth of the Year program (the winner of which will represent the District in the National Exchange Club’s National Youth of the Year competition).
