In the lead up to National Small Business Week, shoppers descended upon small shops and restaurants in Needham Center on Saturday morning, April 30, to shop and stimulate the local economy. The goal of the event was to draw attention to the value of supporting local merchants. The Cash Mob included former Red Sox pitcher Ken Ryan, Newton-Needham Chamber Shop Local Committee, Needham Economic Development Committee, Parent Talk, Community Center of Needham and the Needham YMCA.
National Small Business Week, which runs from May 1-7, was started in 1963 by President Kennedy to recognize the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
