The Needham Exchange Club recently honored Babs and Bob Moss with its prestigious Book of Golden Deeds Award, which honors “unsung heroes” in the community who “quietly provide volunteer services.”
Ordinarily, the award is given to an individual but this year the Exchange Club decided to honor Babs and Bob for 35 years of service both as a couple and as individuals.
Among their volunteer activities, Babs and Bob have worked in the schools, as baseball and softball coaches, literacy tutors, Beth Shalom Garden Club members, worked at the Center at the Heights, and with the New Year’s Needham Committee.
In addition, they have helped the Needham Community Council, which has been “their main focus through the years,” according to a notice from the Exchange Club.
Sue Robey Biasizzo, a 2010 Book of Golden Deeds recipient, told the assembled crowd about the many things that Babs and Bob have done to support the Community Council from its food pantry to its thrift shop.
The award was presented by Bob Dermody, Chair of the Book of Golden Deeds.
