The current town water restriction has been raised from a Tier 3 to a Tier 4. This comes as a result of a low rainfall and above-average temperatures throughout the last three months. It also comes in the wake of an announcement from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs declaring a Level 2 - Significant drought for all areas of Massachusetts. That announcement can be found here.
Tier 4 water restrictions prohibits any non-essential outdoor water use. This includes irrigation of lawns, washing vehicles (not including professional car wash facilities), and washing buildings, parking lots, and driveways. Handheld watering for gardens is allowed strictly between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.
