Recently, Troop 89 Senior Patrol Leader Kenny Manning met with a representative of the Medfield Animal Shelter to deliver a donation from the funds raised during the troop's 26th annual Christmas tree pick-up fundraiser.
"We are proud of our tradition of helping others and supporting our community," said Troop 89 Scoutmaster Jim Hatch. "Through these opportunities, our scouts learn the importance of supporting all living beings.”
The Medfield Animal Shelter has been caring for cats, dogs, guinea pigs, bunnies, birds, hamsters, gerbils, and other critters in it's current location for 18 years. In 2021, they found homes for 550 pets. As a no-kill shelter, they are committed to caring for all animals. They also offer care services at a low cost to the community to help end the overpopulation of pets.
With the support of the Town of Medfield and its residents, Troop 89 is able to continue its tradition of donating a portion of the funds raised to local nonprofits. This year The Medfield Food Pantry, The Medfield Animal Shelter, and The Trustees of the Reservation were selected to receive donations.
