Tri-County Superintendent-Director Stephen Dockray announced this week that Jennifer Bowness of North Attleboro has been named the school’s 2016 valedictorian and Thomas Vagnini of Medfield has been named the salutatorian.
Vagnini earned the honor of salutatorian by achieving a GPA of 4.38 and has taken AP Language and Composition, Calculus, and Physics. He is a student in the school’s engineering technology program and during his junior year was part of the school’s HUNCH (High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware) team.
In April of last year, Vignini traveled with the team to Houston, Texas and met with NASA officials to demonstrate their prototype of a microgravity scale. Vignini designed the prototype using a 3-D printer and that design won first place in the Stratasys Extreme Redesign Challenge.
In addition, Vignini has been on the school’s robotics team for the past three years, on the math team his sophomore and senior years, was captain of the cross-country team this fall and is a member of the National Honor Society.
“We are extremely fortunate to count Jennifer and Tom as students and future alumni of Tri-County,” said Superintendent-Director Dockray. “I am certain that both of these students will be extremely successful in whatever career path they choose.”
