The second annual Sing Off! drew a packed house to the Lowell Mason Auditorium at Medfield High last Thursday night as 21 students from the high school and from Blake Middle School competed to determine the best singers in town.
Blake student Emily Rosencrans and Medfield High’s Julia Adrian were the winners of this year’s event, but all 21 performers were recognized with individual awards as well.
For the second year in a row, Rosencrans performed an original song, “Like I Am,” while Adrian sang, “Don’t Know Why,” which was originally recorded by Norah Jones. The winners were selected by judges Kris Adams, Eva Kendrick, and Ashley Nelson, who had offered professional advice and training to the students in the build-up to the event.
In addition to the Medfield students, The Bostonians, an a cappella group from Boston College, performed. The Bostonians were directed by Medfield High alum Paul Wagenseller.
The evening was capped by a performance from The Bostonians along with all 21 finalists on stage at one time.
The event raised money for music programs in the Medfield schools.
