The Medfield Employers & Merchants Organization, MEMO, held their annual summer concert series at the Gazebo in the center of town, tucked behind the Medfield Public Library and Brothers Marketplace. Despite the dreary weather conditions, Medfield residents still came out to set up chairs, and umbrellas, and enjoyed some classic rock performed by The Elderly Brothers Band. Events like this promote local businesses building community connections, as well as giving families fun events to enjoy live music.

This week featured The Elderly Brothers Band, made up of Medfield resident Jerry Kazanjian on bass, John Toresco on guitar, Mitch Golum on the keyboard, and drummer Larry Michetti. They perform music from the 50’s and 60’s, including music from their “distant cousins” the Everly Brothers. Everyone was swaying to the music beneath their umbrellas. Kids ran around on the lawn, catching raindrops on their tongues without a care in the world. There was even Jonah the balloon artist, a hit between adults and kids alike. Representatives blew bubbles, made jokes, even got on stage to join the band for a few songs. The representatives from MEMO were happy to share more about the event and its history.

“When I inherited the events, we had a lot of hard rock and metal bands,” Russ Hallisey, treasurer on the Board of Directors said as we hid from the rain under their tent setup. “We wanted to bring someone with a connection to Medfield and a variety of music everyone can enjoy.”

The Elderly Brothers had been reaching out to join the concert series for a few years before there was an opening. MEMO did not have any music like theres, so it was serendipitous when they could finally join the lineup. They came out despite the rain and gave a great show, albeit cut short because of the weather. Every person in attendance at the end left with their free T-shirt from the raffle and encouraged them to wear them next week for the last show of the summer and a chance to win a mysterious bigger prize.

Make sure to come by tonight for the last summer concert at 6pm featuring the Stacey Peasley Band.
