Local children hopped down to the Pfaff on Friday, March 31st to partake in some bunny-themed fun, for a Peter Cottontail Celebration. This annual event has been occurring for over five years now.
The children slowly trickled into the room, eagerly awaiting for the celebration to officially begin. Each child was gifted a basket and a set of bunny ears for their egg-hunt. “Put your ears on, they will help you hunt!” Miss Anna directed the children, upon receiving their baskets. The children had to ensure that they had both their bunny ears and their listening ears on prior to the hunt.
“Peter left us a puzzle to solve. He wants us to find special eggs and special times because the all have something to do with the prizes he left,” Anna instructed the children.
In order to make the hunt fair, so each child would leave with a prize, there were different shaped eggs scattered through the wood chips at the Dale Street School playground. The goal of the hunt was for each child to find one of each egg, as Miss Anna would call out which shape the children were looking for. Some of the eggs included trucks, balls, cards, chicks, and rainbows, as well as some regular pastel colored eggs.
After each round, the children were excited to show one another the eggs they had found. When a friend was struggling to find a specific egg, the other children would scatter to aid them in their search.
Rather than containing candy, each egg had a picture inside of it. These pictures correspond to various prizes at a prize table that was inside the Pfaff. Upon completing the egg hunt, the children returned inside of the building to see what prizes they had won. The prizes included stuffed animals, bubbles, fidget toys, lollipops, and various other items.
The children delighted in running around outside, searching for eggs. It was safe to say, all of the children enjoyed their celebration with Peter Cottontail, especially the prizes he had left behind.
