The local organizers of the Miss Amazing Celebration have announced that the third annual state pageant will be held at Medfield High on Saturday, February 27 at 6 p.m.
Miss Amazing was brought to Massachusetts three years ago by Medfield High student Andrea Nevins to give girls and women with disabilities the opportunity to take the stage and “share their unique abilities and ambitions.”
According to an announcement from the organizers, “The women and girls are given the opportunity to celebrate their multi-faceted identities, valuable abilities and strengths in a supportive, fun environment.”
The participants go through interviews, on-stage introductions, formal wear and an optional talent portion. The goal is to teach “valuable life skills, helping them reach their own unique goals and dreams.”
The minimum age of participation is 5 years old and the event is free, with a suggested donation of five cans of food for the local food pantry. Boys and men can also take part in the event as volunteers.
“Miss Amazing celebrations prove that the world is a much better place when the talents and ambitions of all people are celebrated and valued,” the announcement read.
“The Miss Amazing celebration is a day of bonding, learning, growing and having fun, for everyone involved.”
